Ahh, so this is a reply to toki’s post asking about bat wings (I’m so sorry this was probably rhetorical but I should put this here for myself as well;;)

and I basically wanted to talk about how I would go about drawing bat wings on a human? (this is in no way the only way to do it, I’m mostly just talking to myself here)

So, we take your typical bat as a reference and notice that bat wings are, in a sense, very hand-like. (which is why they’re given the order Chiroptera or “hand-wing”)

There is a clawed thumb on the leading edge of the wing, reaching a ‘wrist’ and sprawling out into (typically 3) phalanges with 2 digits to support the wing membrane (the number of digits can reach up to five in some cases)

This is primarily the reason why Remi has such large hands (to replicate the wings of a bat)

However if we were to literally translate a bat wing it would look something like the 2nd figure, with thin elongated fingers and a thumb appearing on the leading edge of the wing. (I’ve added another “finger” and kept large arms just for the sake of Remi’s design so please excuse that)
